Save Carmine, also, Ferris... he's kinda sick. It's serious I think....
In the spirit of Gears of War's release Monday nights Midnight release. I wanted to talk about the Carmine family. In the first game. Anthony Carmine, was just another member of Delta squad when Marcus was freed. But Anthony's journey ended abruptly at the hands of a Locust sniper. The entire unit felt his loss, but as soldiers, they had to carry on. There was a mission to do, and Sergeant Kim wasn't going to let his death be in vain.
Gears of War 2. Marcus is now, and has been for some time now, the Sergeant of Delta Squad.
Things are getting worse, the war isn't looking too good. There are more reinforcement rookies than there are veterans. Marcus' new squad mate is Anthony's younger brother. Benjamin. Ben is a raw rookie, but a solid soldier; like his brothers. Benjamin manages to prove himself as a capable soldier, and an asset to the team. Sadly, when the... for lack of a better descriptive word, "Giant Worm". [This worm has been tunneling through the underbelly of humanities city undermining it's strength and safety from below.] ... so when this massive worm finally shows it's ugly face it swallows Delta Squad, and their helicopter whole.... not to mention half the block as well. [Seriously, it's a really, really big worm.] The team is split up in the wreckage, and whilst in the belly of the beast, have to fight to survive. Sadly, when most of the team finally regroups, they discover Benjamin just before he's torn apart by monsters. Delta takes his loss hard, but they have to survive, and cut their way out of this mess.
Gears of War 3, a promotion began shortly after the games announcement called, "Save Carmine".
Epic Games planned for the third for, eldest of the Carmine brothers, Clayton to be the, biggest, strongest of the three; but they were torn. "Should he live? Should he die?" They couldn't decide, so they chose to let the fans control his fate. A series of shirts either saying "Save Carmine" or "Carmine Must Die" were sold on their website. The money from these shirts went to charity. Now Epic said; "Whichever shirt sells the most, will decide whether Carmine lives or dies."
I wonder.... will Clayton Carmine live? I hope so. I guess we'll have to wait until the game's released to find out!
Later!

Hey...nice little reference to Ferris Bueller's Day Off:
ReplyDelete"Ladies and gentlemen, you are such a wonderful crowd, we'd like to play a little tune for you. It's one of my personal favorites and I'd like to dedicate it to a young man who doesn't think he's seen anything good today - Cameron Frye, this one's for you."
"Ferris get off the float!"
Cute, Fox!
