A Holiday Gift to You.

My gift to you is all the opening videos to Star Wars: The Old Republic by BioWare.

Watch these, and let me just tell you now. [Just like me] You'll want this to be a movie, and forget the most recently made ones. 'Cause this is what we want.

[I told you! Don't you want this to be a full length movie?]

X-Christmas-Play

2011 was a big year for video games. The amount of top-tier titles made it look like our wallets suffered from bulimia nervosa. Money goes in, the immediately right back out. So there's something X-Play does which is kinda awesome. So I'm gonna show it to you. Below is X-Play's Mega trailer, jam packed with all the awesome from this year. Trust me, you'll like it.

Blast from the Past.

[Yup, "wow this game!" is exactly what I said.]

There it is. Mad Dog McCree, a classic, even legendary old shooting game. Nobody did it like that before and no one has done it like that since. The reason why I'm talking about it is because it just hit the iPhone and iPads. It only costs $4.99, and you get pure classic gunslinger at the tip of your touchscreen. [Here's hoping it makes it to Android devices soon!]

Dusty DropSuits on 514

[It's about time we got some Dust news again.]

The PlayStation Blog is our friend today. CCP the developers of Dust 514 dropped some sweet, fresh news. Above, you see the picture of the kick'n new Sci/fi combat duds. Suits like these are what you'll be wearing in the MMOFPS Dust 514 that lives and breathes in the EVE Online universe. Each of these Dropsuits will have options like Power Grids, Slots, and on-board CPU. The slots will offer categories like {- Light - Heavy - Sidearm - High - Low - Equipment - Grenade -} This is some serious kit, and it's looking awesome. I wanna flood my post with gooey details. I wanna reveal so many of it's secrets it'd make a sailor blush, but. I wont. Why, you ask? ['cause this is a family friendly blog!] No...that's not it. It's because I'd rather let the creators explain. They do it with the love and care and experience that comes from making the game. So follow the link. PlayStation Blog and get your fill.

During the VGA's a world premier hit. What was impressive was, how far along the game was, how nice it felt, how intense the story was, and that it was a Naught Dog title! A title they've apparently been working on for over 2 years! Two years in the making and we're just now hearing about this? [Yeah, now that's how you keep a secret] Watch the trailer, enjoy. [He was hilarious.] As predicted and promoted, there were a few world premiers, some new trailers for up and coming games a much more. I'll make a couple more post about it throughout the week; but to start us off. It's Mass Effect time. Just below is one of the coolest trailers of the night and one of The Most Anticipated Game of the Year award winner. And it Comes Roll'n Out

[Go Shoot Something. I Know You Want Too]

As of today, the Battlefield 3 DLC Back to Karkand is now out for everyone on the PlayStation. (Next week for the folks on the Xbox)

Secondly, the new Xbox Dashboard is live! [See Picture Below]

[Man, shnazzy new digs]

Yup, the long awaited update has come, but it was a shaky release. The new dashboard was supposed to hit early this morning... [There was even a press release ya'll] but a delay hit, and even the boys at the press release didn't know! Well Microsoft jumped on it and sent out the alert. They said it'd be taken care of and the update would hit soon. Turns out, "Soon" was tonight and it's rolling out. The weird part is it's being shoveled out in "bunches" right now. So if you were gaming and forced offline so you could update. [That's why, you were one of the lucky "bunches" to get the overhaul before it became a widely available update.]

Well now that the weirdness is [hopefully] over; treat your Xbox to a facelift and enjoy all the new features!

The Nice Thing About Trilogies...

During the creation of Mass Effect 2, BioWare, intended to develop a segment of the story that would take place on the Citadel. This segment would be a nod back to the first game. [Or as they put it. "It would have been a callback to the first Mass Effect] Well, all I know is that, now I know something was left out I want to play it! [Good News Everyone!] The cut segment has been resurrected in Mass Effect 3. Lead Writer at BioWare told OXM [You remember these guys, if not look at the post below.] this.

"There was a Mass Effect 2 plot that was a kind of callback to the first Mass Effect that was going to be on the Citadel, and we cut it. But now it's made a resurrection in Mass Effect 3, so I'm happy, but I can't say what it is. That's the nice thing about trilogies, sometimes you get a second chance."

A Post of Titanic Proportions.

[That's not a real photo, that's CG.]

I Present, the Titanic
I'd like to introduce you to, ORM Entertainment. They've been working on a project that is reaches a level of stature that not even, Epic, or Awesome, can aspire to explain. They originally started working on this awe inspiring recreation of the doomed, but gorgeous Titanic. ORM stated with the CryEngine developed for Crysis 1. They stated with the game and made a mod for it that allowed them to use the games stellar graphics to bring their creation to life. As time passed and tech grew, they've been updating it constantly to the state it's reached now. the Titanic: Lost In The Darkness now boast the raw graphic power of the CryEngine 3

Truly, ORM is onto something great here.

And people said that playing with computer games would never amount to something...
[Uh-huh, yeah, sure they won't]

[Oh the sweet pain you can unleash with simple, verbal, commands.] You'll get what I mean, and probably laugh at the possibilities; but you'll also take note at where we're heading. "Crovel" before the 720

[It's amazing how something so beautiful could just.... melt your face right off!]

OK, first up! The Rumor Wagon is roll'n through town so fast that the dust it's kicking up spells 720. [Xbox 720 that is.] See, some people are figuring the newest Microsoft Next Gen-Console will be released holiday season next year. [That's 2012 for those of you without a calendar.]

A fella by the name, Paul Thurrott, a Technology reporter had this to say. "What I’m hearing is [The Xbox 720 is] going to come out for holidays next year, meaning that they would almost have to announce this at CES, wouldn’t they? That’s my rumor… that we’ll expect to hear something about that. They’re going the Apple route where they want this thing to integrate very tightly with Windows 8 and Windows Phone, which is a problem with the current Xbox.”

CES stand for "Consumer Electronics Show". Most of the time Developers and Publishers wait to announce major news for E3, and many games are even announced at the VGA's, but it's rumored that Microsoft wants to push a little harder on some of their products at CES  so maybe they wanna get the ol'ball a roll'n on the new console too. I guess we'll see then eh?

In other news. [Since you may be wondering why you should "Crovel"]
The Crovel: Epicness born in the shape of a tool. [Crovel - Pronounced "Crow-Vel"] is basically the Swiss-Army Kinfe's version of the shovel.

               [See?!] Crovel =======)>

The Crovel is a sharpened machete on one side, a saw on the other, a Shovel at the tip, 15 ft of rope wrapped around the handle, a hammer, crowbar, with a "Z-Spike"that you can attach to the tip, PLUS kit that can be stored inside the long handle!!!! [OMG! *Head A'sploades*] I want this! More importantly! I want this in every game that uses a melee weapon! C'mon, what says rugged quite like carting around a Crovel?! Imagine how useful this would be during the undead Apocalypse! [Zombies be doomed! I hope they're ready to be re-dead... uh, again.] Seriously amazing. I want!

Oooh, Gritty.... In an Awesome Kind of Way

[Rainbow 6 in it's "Big Boy Pants"]

Ubisoft has a concept gameplay video on their severs. They feel that, inevitably, it'll be leaked by the office's "closet jerk". He's they guy that secretly decides the information needs to come out right now, not later; or he thinks it's so cool he just can't keep a lid on it any longer. Either way Ubisoft wasn't about to sit on it's thumbs and wait for that. So they polished the video up a bit and released it now in a kind of, "Here's what we're going for", kind of way. This newest edition to the Rainbow 6 series is gearing up to be the grittiest of the bunch. They're setting up the player to fall into a set of seriously tough, on the spot, choices. You'll see in the video posted below; which is amazing by the way. I was surprised by it, and a bit excited. Ubisoft ain't mess'n around with this game.

[Dang....]

Sometimes you've got to make the hardest choices in the span of a few short seconds. [Either way, the dude with the bomb vest and dead-man-trigger, had to go.] It sucked, yeah but there was no saving him, and no point in letting pity kill everybody else on the bridge. Dude needed to take a swim, like it or not. Bottom line: even thought it wasn't "Actual Gameplay", that's what Ubisoft is aiming for. I like what I saw. I'm certainly going to keep my eye on the title as it develops. Should be a hell-of-a ride.

Rainbow 6 is Back!

[Finally!]

Well, it happened, we all knew it inevitably would. Rainbow 6 is a very popular 1st person shooter with Tam Clancy's name all over it. [literally] If you're a fan of any of the Rainbow 6 titles, you should now be sufficiently psyched that the word is official. Diehard fans from way back in the day when Rainbow 6 was a paperback novel will be salivating for a chance to get in on the action again. Heck even the guys and gals that picked it up along the way or even as recently as Rainbow 6: Vegas or Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 will find just as meany reasons to get excited. Especially since the Hype Gears are already turning.

Sadly the official release estimate is 2013, so yeah it's a ways away, but at least we know it's coming. Screen shots are already popping up and you can find them on websites like Joystiq. But it's coming!

Now, for the Battlefield 3 owners, or near future owners. Do you like schnazy things? Do you enjoy things that sparkle and shine? [Op, got your attention now don't I?] Are you a man or woman with class and a fantastic sense of style even on the battlefield? Then boy howdy do I have good news for you! Those tattered old dog tags of yours with just your name and rank and serial number on it is sooo last year. Now you can bling'em up with a style your own. Maybe carve a sweet looking skull on it,[Ooh yeah, sweet] or a pack of kick'n wolves on the hunt, [Lone Wolf or Pack Hunter, baby!] whatever it is that tickles your fancy. Dog tags don't have to be bland, but grand! [I know, I know. I'm so sorry I used that... really.] In Battlefield 3 this is a reality! And the boys and girls at EA wanna help you express yourself. All's you has to do is watch a sweet movie trailer on their website. Then you pick your system, log in to your EA account and bam. Style central, for FREE! [And by FREE! I mean money, 'cause you spent cold hard time on watching the trailer.] But it didn't suck, the trailer wasn't so bad.

Alright, here's the link. Act of Valor

V Means Five, Five Times the Awesome!

[It's true, five times. Not Four, Not Six... Five.]

This is gonna be short and sweet. Why? Because the new, as of yet unnamed hero of the new game, spills out a spiffy monologue while you're eye's lays about in a the spa of staggering graphics. So yeah, this is but a taste of what's to come. More news will inevitably be a roll'n out.
Enjoy.

[Man those are some ridiculous real-life style graphics.]

Everyone, Everyone! look Unto Me!

["I posses the Blue's Helicopter! I have seen the top of the mountain! And you will worship me as though I were a god!" -Red Zealot, RVB]

Listen I don't usually do this but, once I saw this... and subsequently picked my jaw off the floor. I immediately had to post this. So... um, I'm gonna let this video speak for itself. Oh and uh, this dude is INSANE! I hope, if we cross paths, that we're on the same team.

[It is imperative that you start the James Bond Theme below this video first, then watch the video. It just, does it.]

Truly Epic.

Vote: Halo for Anniversary.

[It's so close! So close....]

Now this post is about a video I was unable to find on YouTube or any other site that cold be posted to my blog here. So, below is a Halo campaign trailer that's just amazing. It gives you the first real taste of what this amazing anniversary title brings to bear. So grab a fork, a knife, and dig into the visual deliciousness. When you're done, sip on the delicacy known as. the original score.

 [*Giggles*] Awesome!

Now, I don't want any of my readers who aren't interested in following simple links to feel like they missed out completely. [If you did follow the link then it's BONUS TIME! You're Welcome]
So. I give you the Directors Cut of the HALO 4 announcement trailer. The differences aren't exactly huge, but they're there. [Besides, the trailer is short, sweet, and just down right EPIC.] So why not watch it again?

[Man, mind blowing awesome!]

If you've seen the original version of this trailer then you'll have noticed a difference or two. However I think the most obvious difference is that the Chief discards the grenade launcher at the end, instead of reloading it. [Chief, is this why you always say, "I need a weapon"? And yes, yes we did miss you.]

G4 & Mass Effect 3

["Somebody go back and get a crap load of grenades. We're gonna be busy."]

G4, you may have seen them on TV. They cover tech, and most importantly, video games.
They're also the ones who bring you X-Play. [If you haven't seen X-Play, it's a daily video game television program.] But you should know this already. [What? You didn't? Don't you watch TV? Whats a matter with you?]

Anyway, those lucky dogs got to enjoy a minor hands on of the new Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer mode.
What stood out to me was how BioWare was handling the whole multiplayer experience in general. When you think Mass Effect and you and your friend playing it at the same time. You should think, Horde mode from Gears of War or, respectively, Firefight from Halo. Now don't think this is a simple copy and conversion of a popular game type. BioWare changes it up, by infusing it with the uniqueness of character development and customization [The kind the series in known for. Seeing as how it's one of their core focal points.] It also shakes things up by giving you assignments along the way, like disarming bombs or capturing key locations, ect. Below is a link to the actual preview. It explains what I'm getting at, but most importantly. I left a few things out that were best left to the guys who were there. Spend five minutes, read it. You'll be glad you did!

Steel Battalion Wants Your Controller and Your Kinect to Be Freinds.

[I'd start humming "Why Can't We Be Friends" right now, but I respect my readers too much to do that.]

Steel Battalion. A series with a lot of ambition, one frigging expensive controller, and not the right debut time. We've been over this though and Capcom believes they've got a formula that can do the trick. This little recipe for potential Awesome-Sauce calls for your Xbox controller and your Kinect to join forces! Not war against each other and force the user to choose between the two. ["One or the Other" - is so last year.]

The new in, is Team-Work. Capcom feels that you can bring forth a solid, immersive, video game environment by using the remote and the Kinect simultaneously. So, can they utilize the the Kinect's functions? Right now I've had no, and/or seen no, hands-on demo's to get a feel for it. So I can't say for certain. But Capcom thinks they may just have a capable bridge to elevate the Kinect from gimmick machine, to useful tool to be utilized skillfully. Some of the other big boys in the industry have found some good uses for the new technology. The guys at 343 Industries to name one. One thing I know for sure, even if this doesn't pan out as being as awesome as it could be...Capcom makes some seriously sweet trailers. [So... you know, there's that....]

[If this works; yeah, I could get in on it.]

You can tell it's and early build. I'd like to think they'd be able to dish out a much smoother, more polished, HD friendly, graphics intensive title. But this is a good start!

[Dude, Plane Crash: been there, done that, killed the A-holes. NEXT!]

Nate Drake is the basically the new Indiana Jones. He's so life like, so very natural in his movements, and the cut scenes feel solid and real. I know what you're asking. "How Fox? How do they do that?" [Pfft, like I know, I didn't make the game. Jeez.]

Thanks to Naughty Dog, they're willing and already ready, to show you how with this sweet behind-the-scenes featurette! So cool.

[Lol, the grunting...]

Imagine: You're playing that part of the video and someone walks in to hear all that. They'd probably ask. "What the hell are you watching?"

Back to L.A.

Grand Theft Auto V is set to return to Los Angeles. A city they've used before, just like the Big Apple. You'll remember the Rock Star version of L.A. in GTA: San Andreas.
The talk is that there will be 5 playable characters in the campaign, which makes since. They did that with GTA-IV in their DLC. So, you'll probably see the standard outfit. Massive single player story, gigantic free roam city, DLC's and a kick'n multiplayer which really doubles the replay value of their series. [Oh, and seriously over aggressive, probably juicing, cops.] But, that's why the game is fun!
Keep your eyes sharp 'cause on Nov 2nd the game's debut trailer will hit the tubes.

ODST - "I'm uh, sorry? I don't know... what?"
Elite - *Sigh* Bla-arg, honk, honk."
ODST - "Still nothing...."
Elite - "Blarg! Honk, HONK!"
ODST - Dude. Yelling doesn't make what you're saying suddenly comprehensible.]

Just in case you don't speak Sangheili, I'll translate for you. Halo: Glasslands is out! The newest edition to the Halo novel library is written by the New York Times Bestseller: Karen Traviss

Any true Halo fan worth their salt, and if they're into their paper-based fiction. Then this book is a must have. [Microsoft and 343 aren't sponsoring me, and I'm not getting paid for this. Halo's just that good.] So is Karen Traviss as a matter of fact.

In other news. 343 Industries is happy to break out the sheet music and let you have a peak into the remastered original score written by Marty O'Donnell. So let you're ears feel the love while you watch this behind-the-scenes video.  [Did I mention that Halo: Anniversary's score is being recorded at the famed Skywalker Ranch ? No? Oh well then.]
